‘Doctor Who’ exec Moffat reveals if David Tennant’s Meta-Crisis Doctor could return

Steven Moffat has dashed he hopes of fans still hoping that David Tennant’s cloned Doctor could return in Doctor Who.

Last seen in 2008’s ‘Journey’s End’ heading off with Rose Tyler in Pete’s World, the Meta-Crisis Doctor was a Time Lord/human hybrid, resulting from the Tenth Doctor’s aborted regeneration at the end of ‘The Stolen Earth’ and featuring DNA sampled from Donna Noble.

Asked about the possibility of bringing back the Meta-Crisis Doctor, Moffat told the new issue of Doctor Who Magazine: “No [I wouldn’t bring him back].”

He explained: “Because if we were going to bring David Tennant back to Doctor Who – and I’m not saying we are going to – then we would bring back David playing the real Doctor, and not a substitute Doctor.
