Peter Capaldi chats about his long-term ‘Doctor Who’ plans

Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has revealed that he intends to remain on the show “for a while”.

Capaldi took part in An Afternoon with Mark Gatiss and Friends on Sunday in aid of the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard.

He commented: “At the end of the day, the job is all-consuming, it’s a factory – a Doctor Who factory! I get to run up and down corridors, escape through ventilation shafts and fight Daleks.”

The actor continued: “But it is every day for eight months and you can get tired; you keep trying to come up with ideas. And sometimes you run out of ideas.”

Capaldi added: “If I did have an ambition it would be not to regenerate for a while.”

DOCTOR WHO (S8) CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

Steven Moffat confirmed earlier this week that Peter Capaldi will definitely be returning as the Doctor next year.

The new season begins filming in January and there have been rumours that Jenna Coleman will not be returning after this year’s Christmas special.

Season 8 concluded on BBC One earlier this month.
