Luther creator Neil Cross has confirmed that he will be writing at least one episode for the next series of Doctor Who.

Cross wrote Series 7’s ‘The Rings of Akhaten’ and ‘Hide’, which aired earlier this year.

The writer told Stuff.co.nz: “I am going back. I have got story ideas tucked away, but if I told you about them I would have to kill you. There’s a whole bunch of stuff I want to do. Steven [Moffat] is clearly very busy with the 50th anniversary special and Christmas special, but I have to find out from Steven what his intentions for the Doctor are and what sort of stories he wants me to write.”

Jenna Coleman has confirmed that Series 8 will begin filming at the start of next year.

Neil Cross’s new NBC pirate adventure series Crossbones begins filming next month, starring John Malkovich as Blackbeard.
