‘Doctor Who’ stars tease Maisie Williams’ character’s ‘connection to the Doctor’

Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman have revealed some more hints about the character that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is playing in Doctor Who.

Williams is guest starring in two episodes of the new season of Doctor Who later this year, but the producers have been tight-lipped about who she is playing.

Speaking at Comic-Con in San Diego, Coleman told PA: “[Maisie Williams] is utterly brilliant, as you would expect, and it’s a very surprising and intriguing storyline with her connection to us and her connection to the Doctor.”

Capaldi added: “It’s quite cosmic what she does. She’s wonderful and what’s great about Maisie is that she metamorphosises and she’s so different, the way she acts with different aspects of her character is very exciting and very compelling.”

The pair also confirmed that one of Williams’ episodes will feature Vikings – on a spaceship!

Jenna Coleman told DS: “We do an episode with some Vikings.”

Capaldi recalled: “Yes, we like Vikings! And seeing Vikings on a spaceship is so incredibly Doctor Who-ish. I walked in and saw [Jenna] in a spacesuit on a spaceship with a pile of Vikings and it just looked absolutely amazing.”
