Peter Capaldi is such a brilliant actor, and his Doctor is such a wacky and wonderful character, I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for him and Bill throughout time and space.”

Are you happy with the new companion? Let us know below…

  • Timelover

    Bill.
    Okay…..

  • Lux Interior

Not exactly easy on the eye…

    • Dr. Moo

Good. We don’t need another Peri.

      • Lux Interior

        Speak for yourself sweetie.

        • Dr. Moo

Well, I’m not watching this show for the pretty girls. I watch it for the sci-fi, adventure, escapism… the pretty girls are a bonus.

          • Lux Interior

Which this actress is most certainly not.

          • Dr. Moo

Just as well really, let’s judge her for her performance and not her looks, because that’s what civilised people do. What little we’ve seen of her performance shows promise.

          • Lux Interior

            She’s not attractive. Stop over-investing.

          • Dr. Moo

It was your first go-to knee-jerk response. That’s all I’m saying.

          • Lux Interior

            No. It’s a considered opinion. She’s a moose.

          • Steven Teague

then don’t watch it. grow up and get over it already. we really don’t care.

          • Lux Interior

She’s unattractive. I’m not insulting you personally. Why are you offended?

          • Guesttard

Was going to reply something different, but then I kept going through the comments and now I’m 99% sure you are a troll.

          • Lux Interior

Shame. It may have been interesting. Never mind.

          • Catherine Edmends

really your opinion is of no consequence to us or the BBC or the actress for that matter – no-one forces you to watch so you can just go away and we’ll all be happy then

          • Lux Interior

            “We”

            Ha ha.

          • theaccringtoniann

I respectfully suggest you are not a true fan of the show if your prime interest in the doctor’s companion is “eye candy”.

          • Dr. Moo

Well said! I don’t know why someone being as StoneAge-ish as that deserves any respect though.

          • Lux Interior

I like Dr Who. I also like to look at attractive women with my sci-fi. I’m a heterosexual male.

          • John McJ

Then get the DVDs of series 7-9. Stop being a perve.

          • Lux Interior

Why is liking to look at attractive women “being a perv”?? I’m a heterosexual man. I like attractive women. Why are you using shaming language, John?

          • Lee Giles

It’s OK. I have heard she gets her kit off 3 episodes in…. Are you happy now.

          • Lux Interior

            Rather.

          • Catherine Edmends

because he probably values people for themselves not just looks as you do – shallow may have been a better word for you – “shallow hal”

          • Lux Interior

            “Indifferent Hal”

          • John McJ

            Because you’re a sexist c¨nt.

          • Lux Interior

No. Interesting how you’re the one insulting. What does that say about you, John?

          • John McJ

You’re the one judging people based entirely on looks. You are in no position to lecture me about right and wrong.

          • Lux Interior

You’re the one losing your temper, Johnny boy.

          • John McJ

Because you’re being a nob. You’re lack of self-awareness baffles me.

          • Lux Interior

            You’re the one over-investing Johnny.

          • John McJ

            Fuck off.

          • Lux Interior

            Oh dear!

    • Kai Kinney

She looks great if you google her. I think they just have weird makeup on her. Either way, she seems nice in the promo, so it doesn’t matter how she looks to me.

      • Dr. Moo

I don’t know why it should matter how she looks to anyone. Very sexist and StoneAge attitude to have.

        • Kai Kinney

How exactly is it sexist or “Stone Age”? Sadly, plenty of people still ONLY care about a girls looks to this day. Commenting on a girl’s appearance shouldn’t be seen as sexism though. Girls do it to guys and each other all of the time. In fact, I’m a girl.

      • Lux Interior

It does to me. I like attractive women. Nothing wrong with that.

        • marisheba

Nothing wrong with liking attractive women. Everything wrong with requiring that female characters live up to your personal standards. Capaldi isn’t exactly the sexiest either (maybe he was a few decades ago?); I still enjoy him very much as the doctor.

          • Lux Interior

The new companion is barely a 5 on any scale, objective or otherwise.

“Capaldi isn’t exactly the sexiest either”

            You’re just as shallow sweetie.

          • marisheba

Condescention doesn’t really bolster your argument. I appreciate a pretty face, and I also appreciate good acting. I don’t need the former to appreciate the latter. I’m not sure what part of “and I still enjoy him as the doctor” you didn’t understand. Go complain to your buddies if you don’t find her pretty, but broadcasting your views to the world implies that you primarily appreciate women for their looks. Not cool.

          • Lux Interior

“Condescention doesn’t really bolster your argument. ”

You’re the one who mentioned “standards” dear.

“I appreciate a pretty face, and I also appreciate good acting. I don’t need the former to appreciate the latter.”

Virtue signalling over a sci fi program? Good grief.

“but broadcasting your views to the world implies that you primarily appreciate women for their looks.”

A womans looks are her most important asset. They have been for the past 10, 000 years. Youth and fertility are what keep our species going. You have a small window of opportunity. Have you missed yours?

          • Jamie

If a woman’s looks are what’s most important to you I presume you think a man’s most important assets are muscles and being very well endowed. I presume you don’t measure up or you wouldn’t be looking for cheap thrills in a children’s/teen sci-fi (which as an adult I love by the way!)
Donna, has been one of the most popular companions of the reboot and we weren’t watching her for her looks.

          • Lux Interior

            I was. I like redheads.

          • Catherine Edmends

            dipshit

          • Lux Interior

            Oh stop flirting Cathy.

          • Lux Interior

            I love you too.

          • Katie

“A womans looks are her most important asset. They have been for the past 10, 000 years. Youth and fertility are what keep our species going. You have a small window of opportunity. Have you missed yours?”
Isis murders women they consider too old/unattractive to breed or be sex slaves. Shows the level of your mentality.

          • Brad Filippone

Leave the man alone. He’s trying his best to be a sexist nitwit. Probably not easy in a world in which most of the rest of us have matured beyond such primitive thinking.

          • Lux Interior

But it doesn’t get you laid does it Brad?

          • Christopher F.

Says the 35 year old virgin. Oh wait, I guess that hooker technically counts…

          • Lux Interior

Indeed. And let’s not forget your mother of course Chris.

            Twice.

          • Ryan S Richert

Shh, you are one small person on the internet, hon. When you use the word ‘objective’, aliens all over the universe are laughing.

At you. Loudly and with reckless abandon. <3

          • Lux Interior

            That’s nice sweetie.

    • Christopher F.

Doesn’t have to be. I for one am SICK to DEATH of sexy little women either pining over the Doctor or the Doctor pining over them as companions. Give me a homely tomboy, or even better a MALE Companion any day.

      They’re companions, not love interests.

Donna Noble was one of if not the best companions of NuWho precisely because she completely dodged the romance.

      • Lux Interior

I’m not that invested in the program to be honest.

  • Dr. Moo

    Isn’t that a boy’s name?!

Still, the trailer (Not “Doctor Who: The Next Doctor – LIVE” and that’s a good thing) looks promising. Clara leaves a huge gap to fill and the dynamic between 12 and Bill looks like a good one. Plus we got a confirmed return for the Daleks – YAY!!!

    • JAFischer

Actresses Michael Learned, Glenn Close, and Hudson Liek would like a word with you.

Besides, the character could have a given name such as Wilma or Wilhelmina.

  • John McJ

    Bill. Bill? BILL?!

    B I L L ? ! ? ! ? !

    • Catherine Edmends

billie piper may take issue with that

      • Dr. Moo

        What about Billy Hartnell?

  • Lux Interior

Bill???? A transexual perhaps? That would fit very well with the BBC SJW angenda.

    • Dr. Moo

Hmm… you may be on to something there.

      • Lux Interior

        Yep. The BBC loves faggotry

        • Dr. Moo

          Language!!!

          • Lux Interior

You’re right. BBC is an awful word.

          • Dr. Moo

I’m not going to reply to you again. You come across as a sexist, racist, everythingphobic troll and I don’t need to give you anymore of my precious time.

          • Lux Interior

            OK. Thanks.

          • Terrible Fate

            Stop it, you’re embarrassing yourself.

          • Lux Interior

            Cheers Terrible Fart

          • Dr. Moo

You’ve descended into namecalling? That says it all about your level of maturity (or lack thereof).

          • Lux Interior

You lot can talk! A right bunch of mean spiritied, over-investing Sweary Marys! You are all showing your true colours

            Silly little Dr Poo!

          • Dr. Moo

I haven’t swore at you yet. You’re the one who wants a family show to be all about tickling your nether regions. I think Game of Thrones may be more to your tastes.

          • Lux Interior

“I haven’t swore at you yet.”

Because your mummy wouldn’t approve right?

            Psych.

    • Oleta

If you’re going to be ridiculous, could you at least spell agenda correctly. Bill could be short for Belinda, Wilhelmina, or Jezebel for all I or you know, but jumping to this conclusion serves your ‘everythingnotmephobic’ agenda.

      • Lux Interior

Your self-importance and lack of humour amuse me.

        • Oleta

Your repeated inability to spell disturbs me.

          • Lux Interior

            That’s nice.

      • Elizabeth

My boys said the same thing. They immediately thought of the horse in the Western episode with Matt…I wouldn’t be surprised at all…Dr. Who has always been ahead on social agendas

  • Lux Interior

Bill, eh? So they’ve turned Dr Who in to “The Crying Game”.

    • CultBox

Or maybe she’s just, rather sweetly, named after Bill Hartnell?

      • Lux Interior

        Bill Oddie, more like.

      • Terrible Fate

Can you ban him for being a sexist homophobe please?

        • Lux Interior

          Wahhh! Mummmmyyyy!

  • Judith Taylor

I like her already, although i would have chosen a different name for the character other than Bill, but we’ll she. Welcome to the Whoniverse Pearl.

  • ColeBox

Enjoyed the interaction of the two characters in the clip, but I thought that there was a law passed in the 1970’s that stated:
When introducing a new Doctor Who companion, it is compulsory to use the adjective ‘feisty’.
Standards are slipping in the BBC …

  • russell

PEARL’S appearance as Bill, is reminiscent of Sharon: a positive and intelligent young woman, who first appeared in Marvel comics Dr Who Weekly in 1979. She was a character, way ahead of her time. As was the dastardly MEEP………..Yep, that was a ” D “, I correctly spelt that word with.

  • Em Singh

Bill… rolls right off the tongue…

  • Vamp

Eh… the reveal seemed a little lacklustre to me. Nothing to do with the actress I don’t think just… eh..

  • Brian Allen

I think she’s lovely, and funny to boot. Looking forward to the new episodes!

  • Redassmusic

    I miss Jenna.

    • Dr. Moo

Me too. I liked Clara a lot, we’re talking top five companions of all time, but Bill looks like a good one as well based on what we’ve seen.

    • Christopher F.

I don’t. Not in the slightest. Clara overstayed her welcome the instant she stopped being “The Impossible Girl” and turned into Doctor 2.0. I, and everyone in my group, CHEERED when she left.

Good riddance, and may Clara NEVER return!

      • Redassmusic

Well, Chris, you’re entitled tou your opinion….as are those of us who hold different ones, are entitled to ours…IT’S A FREAKIN’ TV SHOW-DON’T TAKE IT SO SERIOUSLY!!!
It is what it is & the question is: “Are you happy with the new companion?” Said nothing about dissing others opinions.
        Sooo…do you like “Bill”?

        • Christopher F.

You may express your opinion, I may express mine. Don’t get bent out of shape that people don’t agree with you all the time.

      • Dr. Moo

Really? I always felt that she didn’t become a properly rounded character until after The Impossible Girl rubbish was over. It’s after that she stopped being a plot device and became an actual real person. She became more and more like the Doctor and got increasingly reckless until she went too far and had to face the consequences. It made her a fascinating character who’s story I loved and I will always miss the days when Clara Oswald was in the TARDIS.

      • Lux Interior

“I, and everyone in my group”

Your mummy, daddy and pet hamster don’t count I’m afraid

  • brayden

i dont like the look of that spacific doctor the doctor face sorta type i like the 10th and 11nth doctor this 12th doctor just isnt write

    • Lola

your spelling of word “right” isn’t right. -.-

  • brayden

    and i miss rose tyler

  • Morgan Manning

Finally, someone asks about the plunger 😉

  • MatthewFrank Maggio

Is no one going to mention the obvious but great Back to the Future reference in there?

  • Ryed

    Calling it, she’s Missy.

Otherwise she would just be another run of the mill companion and that’s not what moffat does, and since it is his last season, what better way to part than to have The Doctor with The Master/Missy in disguise as his companion? Also, since when do Daleks have some sort of writing below their eye stalks?

  • Bill reminds me a bit of Donna. I’m not even sure why! I liked Clara (though not as much as some of the other companions), but I’m looking forward to a change. Not that I’ll get to see it for awhile. Netflix in NZ stopped at season 8!!!
