‘Doctor Who’: 50th anniversary special returning stars confirmed

The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out next week and received by subscribers today, confirms the news.

The magazine also reveals that actor John Hurt (Alien, Merlin) will be guest starring in the episode and that it is currently expected to be 60 minutes long, though this could apparently change.

The special will receive a limited worldwide 3D cinema release.

Tennant and Piper were last seen on screen as the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler on New Year’s Day 2010 in the concluding part of ‘The End of Time’.

Directed by Nick Hurran (‘Asylum of the Daleks’, ‘The Angels Take Manhattan’), the special begins filming on Monday 1 April, Jenna-Louise Coleman announced last week.
