Merlin's executive producer Julian Murphy has hinted that the fantasy drama may return for a sixth series in 2013.

The show's creators have often talked about there being a five-year plan for the show and suggested that their story would conclude at the end of Series 5.

Speaking exclusively to CultBox, Murphy commented: "No final decision has been made but there is talk. I don’t think it will be resolved immediately... You’ll have to wait and see on that one!"

The producer also explained that "people will have to be patient" regarding the long-rumoured Merlin movie and animated spin-off series as "these things take a long time", promising "slowly but surely something will come together".
