'Sherlock' star Andrew Scott joins ITV1's 'The Scapegoat'

Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Sheridan Smith (Jonathan Creek), Anton Lesser (The Hour) and Jodhi May (The Jury) have been cast in ITV1's new period adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s classic novel, The Scapegoat.

The one-off film will star Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters) in the double roles of John Standing and Johnny Spence, alongside Eileen Atkins (Upstairs Downstairs) as his mother Lady Spence.

Written and directed by Charles Sturridge (The Road to Coronation Street), the 100-minute film begins filming in London this week.

Andrew Scott returns to the role of Moriarty in Series 2 of BBC One's Sherlock in January.
