BBC One has released a trailer for the twelfth season of New Tricks.

The long-running crime drama returns at 9pm on Tuesday 4 August for its last ever ten episodes.

The new season’s storylines will see Gerry become embroiled in a scandal that forces him to confront some skeletons in his closet, while Danny and Fiona take their relationship up a notch, Steve worries about his bank balance and everyone must pull together when Sasha is dealt a devastating blow.

Season 12 opens with “an explosive two part story” that will see Dennis Waterman’s character, Gerry Standing, depart the show.

New regular cast member Larry Lamb (EastEnders) will make his debut in Episode 2 as ex-copper Ted Case, alongside returning regulars Tamzin Outhwaite, Denis Lawson and Nicholas Lyndhurst.
