‘Critical’ first look: Sky1’s new medical drama from ‘Line of Duty’ writer

Sky1 has released a preview for Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio’s new “ultra-realistic real-time medical drama”, Critical.

The 13-part series will tell “one story, in one place, in one hour” and is described by Sky as an “emotional roller-coaster ride in which every second counts during the most life-threatening hour of a patient’s treatment”.

Lennie James (Line of Duty) will lead the ensemble cast as locum trauma consultant Glen Boyle, alongside Catherine Walker (Strike Back) as trauma registrar Fiona Lomas, Claire Skinner (Outnumbered) as trauma consultant Lorraine Rappaport and Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat) as junior doctor Dr. “Harry” Bennett-Edwardes.

The cast also includes Neve McIntosh (Doctor Who), Prasanna Puwanarajah (The Half Light), John MacMillan (Silk), Ellen Thomas (Rev), Mali Harries (The Indian Doctor), Paul Bazely (Casualty), Danny Kirrane (Trollied), Peter Sullivan (The Hour), Emma Fryer (Phone Shop), Orion Lee (Skyfall) and Juliet Oldfield (Top Boy).
