TVChoice Awards 2014 shortlist revealed

Posted Filed under

The shortlist for this year’s TVChoice Awards has been unveiled.

Hosted by David Mitchell, the awards ceremony will take place at The Hilton On Park Lane in London on Monday 8 September.

The shortlist includes two nominations for Sherlock (Best Drama Series and Best Actor for Benedict Cumberbatch), but no nominations for Doctor Who this year. Although Doctor Who has not yet aired in 2014, this is still unexpected as the shortlist includes shows from the past year, including shows broadcast in 2013.

However, David Tennant is nominated for Best Actor for his role in BBC One drama The Escape Artist.

Downton Abbey is the most-nominated show with three chances, while Call the Midwife has two nominations.

Editor-in-Chief of TVChoice and Total TV Guide, Jon Peake said: “This will be our 18th awards ceremony, and we are thrilled that it has become an unmissable event for Britain’s biggest stars. They know that the TVChoice Awards are always a special night – and a great chance to thank the loyal viewers who’ve put them on top.”
