Stranger Things: Show won’t outstay its welcome with “open-ended” run

Stranger Things was the biggest breakout hit of last year and a huge win for Netflix, so not many people are thinking about the show’s end right now. However, it appears that there’s already a definite plan for when and how it might wrap up the stories of these characters at some point in the future.

Actor David Harbour told TVLine: “We don’t have an open-ended thing like The Walking Dead. There is an end to all these characters… We’re going to give you something fun and then we’re going to get out before we’ve worn out our welcome. We have a specific story that we’re going to tell.”

This is a very different (and refreshing) attitude than most shows adopt, which often vow to continue as long as the network and its stars allow.

“In general, I think people will be pretty excited about it, but I do think some people will expect something and not get it,” Harbour added on season two. “Some people may want the same thing [as season one], but we’re not going to give them that.

“Literally, upon reading the first five minutes of the first script, I realised we opened up the world in an entirely new way. And these characters can go in an entirely new direction and have new arcs.”

Stranger Things airs on Netflix in the UK.
