A small but intriguing character casting has emerged for the tenth series of spy drama Spooks, which returns to BBC One this autumn.
A fan posted the news on Twitter that actor Sam Reid has been cast in the role of ‘Young Harry’ in two episodes of Series 10. Presumably this is a younger incarnation of Peter Firth’s character, MI5 chief Sir Harry Pearce, who will appear in flashback scenes.
An official synopsis for Series 10, released in April, hinted that “a huge secret, hidden deep in [Harry's] past emerges, threatening to destroy him and those close to him”.
Adding to the speculation about flashback scenes, Carolyn Farr has been cast as ‘1980s German Woman’ and Jenni Herzberg has been cast as ‘Young Elena’. Elena is the name of Deadwood star Alice Krige’s character in the new series.
Other new cast members for Series 10 of Spooks will include Lara Pulver (True Blood, Robin Hood) and Geoffrey Streatfeild (Ashes To Ashes).
Earlier this year, the show’s lead writers told CultBox that “it’s not the end of the road for [Harry and Ruth] yet, not by a long shot”.
