‘Luther’ star Idris Elba launches Superdry collection

Two years after throwing his iconic grey tweed coat off a bridge and into the Thames, Idris Elba’s back as DCI John Luther next month.

The Wire star returns to BBC One on Tuesday 15 December for a two-part Luther special – cue more terrifying crimes, terrific performances, and scenes so tense you’ll have worn out the edge of your seat after the first hour alone.

And don’t let the publicity shots of Luther in an old green donkey jacket fool you – as you can see in the trailer the grey coat’s back too.

In fact John Luther’s become as much a style icon as the man playing him, which is why anticipation for Idris Elba’s new Superdry range, ‘Idris Elba + Superdry’ has been just as high as for that of Luther‘s return.

Released last week in stores and at Superdry.com, the new 250-piece collection is described by Elba as ‘a 24 hour collection: clothing that guys can look and feel great in from day to night’. His major influence in the collaborative design process is clear, with stylish clothing that demonstrates a love of quality and an understanding of what men want to wear.

With its dominant colour palette of jet blacks, graphite greys, and midnight blues, ‘Idris Elba + Superdry’ features a tonal hue, as well as a robust style, that wouldn’t look amiss in an episode of Luther. Or your wardrobe.
