The show is written by James Corden and Mathew Baynton, who also star as hapless duo Phil Bourne and Sam Pinkett, whose “menial existence is turned upside-down by a chance phonecall and a case of mistaken identity”.

Set in “a world of unexpected international conspiracy”, The Wrong Mans also stars Emilia Fox (Silent Witness, Merlin) as Scarlett, Nick Moran (Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels) as Stevens, Dawn French (French & Saunders) as Phil’s resourceful mother and Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) as Cox, the head of MI5.

Other cast members include Sarah Solemani (Him and Her), Karl Roden (Hellboy), Stephen Campbell Moore (The History Boys), Dan Renton Skinner (The Angelos Epithemiou Show), Benedict Wong (Prometheus), Tom Basden (Star Stories) and Rufus Jones (Holy Flying Circus).

The Wrong Mans is filming now and will air on BBC Two later this year.
