‘Footloose’ musical is coming to Brighton this month

Based on Kevin Bacon’s hit 1984 movie, Footloose: The Musical arrives in Brighton later this month.

It visits Theatre Royal Brighton from Monday 25 July until Saturday 30 July.

Footloose: The Musical tells the story of city boy Ren, who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet.

The show features classic ’80s hits, including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear it for the Boy and the unforgettable title track.

The cast is led by Pop Idol star Gareth Gates as Willard, who went on to sell over 5 million records worldwide following the 2001 TV series.

Vi Moore is played by Maureen Nolan, whose theatre credits include the West End and touring productions of Blood Brothers.

Footloose: The Musical first opened on Broadway in 1998, where it ran for 709 performances. The London production followed in 2006.
