‘Doctor Who’ writer Gareth Roberts confirmed for Series 8

The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine confirms previous reports that writer Gareth Roberts is returning to write an episode of Doctor Who‘s new series.

Roberts has written the sixth episode of Series 8.

The writer previously penned ‘The Lodger’ and ‘Closing Time’ for Matt Smith’s Doctor, both featuring James Corden as Craig.

He also wrote ‘The Shakespeare Code’ and ‘The Unicorn and the Wasp’ for David Tennant’s Doctor, as well as many episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures and Wizards vs Aliens.

Episode 6’s guest cast will include Nigel Betts (Emmerdale),  Edward Harrison, Andy Gillies, Ellis George and Jimmy Vee (‘The End of the World’, ‘Voyage of the Damned’).

It was also announced today that Da Vinci’s Demons star Tom Riley will be appearing in Episode 3, written by Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss.

Series 8 is currently filming in Cardiff and will begin airing on BBC One in the autumn.
