‘Class’ story hints revealed: What is new ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off about?

Character details and storyline teasers have been revealed for BBC Three’s new Doctor Who spin-off.

The first two episodes of BBC Three’s new Doctor Who spin-off will premiere online on Saturday 22 October, it was announced today.

Peter Capaldi will guest star as the Doctor in the eight-part YA sci-fi drama‘s opening instalment, titled ‘For Tonight We Might Die’.

The latest official tagline for Class says: “Coal Hill acts like a beacon across all of space and time to any being who might want to use it for mischief….you’ll have to be on your guard.”

The press release reads: “Coal Hill School holds some very dark and deadly secrets in its shadows….but who will survive?

“It’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them. And this incursion is only the beginning…

“Charlie (Greg Austin), April (Sophie Hopkins), Ram (Fady Elsayed) and Tanya (Vivian Oparah), assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill (Katherine Kelly), are charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as the Doctor (Peter Capaldi): guard against the creatures of nightmare that want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own.”

Other regular cast members are Jordan Renzo (Chosen), Pooky Quesnel (The A Word) and Nigel Betts (Boy Meets Girl).

Guest stars in Episode 1 and Episode 2 include Ben Peel (The Fall), Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter), Paul Marc Davies (Torchwood) and Shannon Murray (The Totally Senseless Gameshow).

Class will be shown in the US on BBC America at a later date.

The new season of Doctor Who is currently filming in Cardiff and begins on BBC One in April 2017.
