'The Hour' star Romola Garai promises 'significant changes' in Series 2

Romola Garai has teased the upcoming second series of BBC Two's newsroom drama The Hour, revealing that both Freddie and Bel with have new love interests.

Garai told Collider: "Well, there are some significant changes. We have a new Head of News, played by Peter Capaldi. He’s a big new character. The first season of The Hour concentrated on the Suez Crisis, which was a relic of the empire conflict. This season is much more about the Cold War."

The actress added: "We have two main threads to the story – celebrity and the London underworld of the time with the arms race between America and Russia that Britain was sucked into. Those two themes combine in the story. Freddie has a new love interest. Bel has a new love interest. Hector falls apart at the seams. There’s a lot of change."

The new series is expected to air on BBC Two this autumn.

Alongside Peter Capaldi, Series 2 will also see Hannah Tointon and Tom Burke join the cast.
