2004’s ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off ‘Daemos Rising’ is coming to DVD

Unofficial Doctor Who spin-off Daemos Rising, a direct sequel to ’90s adventure Downtime, arrives digitally remastered on DVD later this month.

Starring Beverley Cressman (Downtime) with Miles Richardson (Midsomer Murders) and narrated by Ian Richardson (House of Cards), the 2004 film is also a sequel to Jon Pertwee’s classic Doctor Who story ‘The Daemons’.

Daemos Rising will be released on DVD on Monday 18 July by Koch Media.

Daemos Rising

Set in the Doctor Who universe, the film finds Cavendish broken by his experiences in Downtime and hides away in a country cottage where he becomes absorbed by the occult.

Kate Lethbridge-Stewart of UNIT travels to see him after an appeal for help and together they battle the resurgent evil Daemons from the story of the same name.

The film has been fully digitally remastered for this DVD release, including an additional 16:9 widescreen version for the first time.

Special features will include a new retrospective, a 20-minute ‘Behind the Scenes’ and a slide show.

An unofficial sequel to the Second Doctor serials ‘The Abominable Snowmen’ and ‘The Web of Fear’, 1995’s Downtime made its DVD debut last year.

The film sees Nicholas Courtney, Elisabeth Sladen, Deborah Watling and Jack Watling reprise their roles as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Sarah Jane Smith, Victoria Waterfield, Professor Edward Travers respectively.
