Doctor Who Magazine

The Doctor isn’t the only one regenerating – the editor of Doctor Who Magazine is too

We have a surprise new Doctor… Who Magazine editor. Having served as the pilot of his very own paper TARDIS since August 2007, Tom Spilsbury will be marking his tenth anniversary in the role by ceding the chair.

Looking back at Spilbsury’s run, perhaps nothing became as notorious as his early cover with Kylie and a Dalek, but the magazine has certainly enjoyed a successful decade and did honestly earn its position as a monthly highlight for fans.

As announced by publishers Panini, the new editor will be Marcus Hearn, a man who has published books on such Doctor-adjacent subjects as Thunderbirds, George Lucas and Britain’s legacy of saucy seaside postcards. Seems like the magazine has gone from one safe pair of hands to another, which I’m choosing to take as a good omen for the parallel switchovers of showrunner and star.

Both chaps are deserving of our best wishes right now. Good luck with the next thing, Tom, and it’s good to meet you, Marcus Hearn. Now run!
