Here are 10 Rogue One Easter eggs you may have missed…

 

Old Friends, New Faces

You’d have to be Chirrut Îmwe to not notice that Mon Mothma is in this movie, but her appearance is actually used as a bridge to the prequels (and yes, we can hear you sighing) with the casting of Genevieve O’Reilly.

O’Reilly originally played Mon Mothma in Revenge Of The Sith in a number of scenes that cemented her as a founding member of the Rebel Alliance along with Padmé and Bail Organa. However; these scenes were among the ones cut from the movie, and O’Reilly’s role was reduced to a wordless call-forward to Return Of The Jedi. Until now.

As well as a new(ish) Mon Mothma; Rogue One also gave us a new General Dodonna, the Rebel who originally gave the Death Star briefing. As original actor Alex McCrindle passed away in 1990 (and would be 105 if he hadn’t); the role was recast with Game Of Thrones star Ian McElhinney, better known as Ser Barristan Selmy. He doesn’t get a chance to break out a sword this time though.
