Wales Online report that Baron was joined by regulars Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, “plus two bus loads of shoppers and a baby”.

The 61-year-old actress is best known for playing Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the 1970s BBC sitcom Open All Hours and more recently as Linda Clarke in EastEnders, mother to Jane and Christian.

The new role will be Baron’s third in Doctor Who, having previously appeared ‘Enlightenment’ in 1983 and ‘The Gunfighters’ in 1966.
